Metal materials used in construction, especially roofing, were copper first, followed by surface treated steel, aluminum, stainless steel and titanium. With the continuous development of national economy and the continuous improvement of people's living standards, people's requirements on urban buildings, especially the aesthetic requirements of buildings are getting higher and higher.
In recent years architects have sought to use new building materials that are superior to traditional ones. Titanium metal has many excellent properties, fully meet the requirements of many special properties of building materials, so it is favored by architects and construction industry.
Japan is the first to apply titanium in the building of the country, is also the largest application of titanium in the building of the country.
It is mainly applied to the roof of the building, as well as the curtain wall of the building, port, bridge, tunnel, outer wall, door plate, baluster, pipeline and so on. The United Kingdom, France, the United States, Spain, the Netherlands, Canada, Belgium and Switzerland have examples of buildings using titanium as roofs and curtain walls and countries such as Sweden, Singapore and Egypt have also started to use titanium in some new buildings. In 1997, the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain, used titanium plates to construct exterior curved surfaces. Several hundred tons of titanium was also used in ABU Dhabi airport, the first in the world to be used as a structural material.
In China, the national Grand Theatre was the first building to propose the application of titanium metal and Hangzhou Grand Theatre was the first to apply it.
Other buildings that use titanium metal include the grand entrance hall of China Non-ferrous Engineering Design and Research Institute, the First Pavilion of Donglai in Linping, Hangzhou, the roof of Shanghai Circus circus and dalian Shengya Polar World. The titanium sculpture "Dolphin and Man" in Riverside Park of Baoji City, Shaanxi Province, the titanium sculpture "Universe Ball" in central Square of Xingtai City, Hebei Province and the titanium sculpture "rooster announces dawn" in Buxing Street of Baoji City, Shaanxi Province, etc.
Our country titanium metal production technology is basically mature, production design scale is large, but the sales market is not large, economic benefits are not ideal, mainly due to the lack of customers satisfied with the technical and economic performance of good products. The current situation of titanium for construction in China is as follows:
1.Single product: as structural materials, there are not enough varieties for users to choose. As a surface decoration material, there is no large-scale production enterprise of titanium surface treatment in China at present and the processing is still in the production mode of hand workshop, which is not conducive to using titanium as decoration material in a large area.
2.Low grade: there is no higher quality products, but no large supply of titanium and related composite materials, can only produce some models, city carvings, crafts, etc., there is no higher grade surface decoration materials and their means of production.
3.High price: because there is no stable high-quality products, it is impossible to have a large area of wide application, resulting in small use, high price and not conducive to the promotion of use.
4.Designer factor: There is no similar vocational training system in China. After the invention of new materials, they are not stored in the thinking of architectural designers.
In recent years, with the progress of global oceanization and the continuous decline in the price of titanium raw materials, the demand and application scope of titanium in the construction and decoration fields are constantly expanding. It is expected that the demand for titanium in the construction and decoration industries will reach more than 5000 tons in the next few years and the demand for titanium in ocean engineering and island construction will reach more than 5000 tons. The shipbuilding industry will use more than 5,000 tons of titanium.
However, there is not a single enterprise specializing in the production of titanium materials for architectural decoration in China, but only simple application of industrial materials in the civil field, which is far from the market and industry needs and it is urgent to establish a specialized production line to meet the professional needs of this field.
Titanium is the cheapest mass-produced metal that is almost completely impervious to seawater. As a building material, titanium has a low reflectivity and a light silvery gray color, with an attractive natural metallic luster.
Baoji Titanium Industry Research Institute will produce titanium for architectural decoration, mainly applied to the roof of the building, followed by the curtain wall of the building, harbour facilities, Bridges, undersea tunnels, exterior walls, decorations, accessories, column decoration, exterior decoration, monuments, signs, door signs, railings, pipes, corrosion prevention coating, etc. The project uses the existing domestic titanium plate and titanium coil as raw materials and adopts the technology of plastic polishing and embossing to make the surface of the plate bright, consistent color and metal pattern. Adopting the anodic oxidation coloring technology of large area plate to color the surface of plate so that to forming colorful colors, meeting the needs of building and decoration materials.
